Recursive Find — Privacy Policy

Recursive Find is a browser extension that searches for text on the page
you are viewing and, to a depth you choose, on the pages that page links
to. This policy explains what the extension accesses and what it does
(and does not) do with that information.
The short version: Recursive Find does all of its work
locally in your browser. It does not collect, store off your device,
sell, or transmit any personal data. There are no analytics, no
tracking, and no external servers operated by us.
What the extension accesses

The current page's text and links. When you start a
search, the extension reads the visible text and hyperlinks of the tab
you are viewing so it knows what to search and which links to follow.

The content of linked pages. To perform a recursive
search, the extension fetches the linked pages (which may be on any
website) and searches their text. This is the same kind of request
your browser makes when you click a link.

Your search settings. Your last-used query, depth,
page limit, match mode, and toggle options are saved on your device
(via
chrome.storage.local) so they persist between
sessions.
What we do with it
All page content is processed in memory in your browser purely to
produce and display search results, and is discarded when the search
ends. None of it is sent to us or to any third party. We do not build
profiles, run analytics, or log your activity.
Permissions
- activeTab / scripting — read the current page's text and links, and highlight a match in a result page you open.
- host access (all sites) — fetch the text of pages linked from your current page during a search you start. The set of sites isn't known in advance because it depends on the page you're viewing.
- storage — remember your search settings locally.
- sidePanel — display the extension's side-panel interface.
Data sharing
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties. We do not use your
data for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose, and we
do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL
with a new "last updated" date.
